This is Brian Leetch's New York Rangers blue "New York" style game-worn jersey from October 7, 2001. This is one of three jerseys that he wore on that night at Madison Square Garden in New York when the Rangers faced the Buffalo Sabres in this special game. Both teams wore jerseys with the words "New York" positioned diagonally across the front in the wake of the 9-11 attacks on the World Trade Center less than a month earlier. Each player wore one jersey which was auctioned off shortly after the game, raising raised more than $215,000 for the Twin Towers Fund. However, some of the bigger-name players wore extra shirts during the game and this is one of those. It has not been determined which period this shirt was worn in, but Leetch did end the night with the overtime game-winning goal. The jersey has the 9-11 commemorative ribbon sewn onto the left shoulder and the assistant captain's "A" sewn onto the left chest. It has also been autographed by Leetch on the back number 2 in black marker, as were all of the jerseys. This one came directly from the Rangers organization and has a COA from the team and the Meigray Group.

This jersey is now photo matched to a number of very distinct variations and loose threads in the (presumably) hand made "NEW YORK" logo.
